There was a heavy police presence in the Village of Florida and at S.S. Seward Institute this morning after a threat was made on social media that a clown was at S.S. Seward Institute.
Superintendent Jan Jehring posted a letter on the School District website about the incident. The letter stated that the District first received a report that a person dressed as a clown was standing in a wooded area on upper Farries Ave., and shortly after then learned of the threat of a clown at the school on social media.
S.S. Seward Institute was locked down. Police from Florida, the Town of Warwick and the State responded. After checking the building and the grounds, classes resumed. Superintendent Jehring wrote in the letter that the Police will remain in the District while the investigation continues. For updates visit the School District website – www.floridaufsd.org.
