The Actors Workshop Ensemble and the Warwick Historical Society are hosting Story Gatherings on Fri., Jan. 27, Fri., Feb. 17, and Wed., Mar. 1 to collect the stories that come from the people. All sessions are at 7 p.m. at AME Church, located at 9 Forester Ave. in Warwick.
In celebration of the Village of Warwick’s 150th Anniversary, there will be a “Confabulation,” which is a community performance piece based on the stories of the people who live and work in the Warwick Valley. The Actors Workshop Ensemble and the Warwick Historical Society are building this piece together, and want to hear personal family stories from the past 150 years. These are not oral histories about Warwick; they are the stories that have been passed from generation to generation and belong to the people. These stories could be about anything, and may or may not be factual.
The Actors Workshop Ensemble, making its home in the AME Church, begins workshops this spring during which a full-length play will be developed. The “Confabulation” is scheduled to open Fri., Aug. 18. Admission to the story gathering workshops is free but limited seating is available, and reservations are suggested. For information or to make a reservation, call 978-1776.
