Story by Luke Segota
Warwick held its annual Little League Parade on Sat., Apr. 14. Teams of young athletes and their coaches marched along Main St. in the Village of Warwick to Memorial Park. The rainy April weather forced the parade to be rescheduled from Sat., Apr. 7 to Apr. 14, and thankfully the sky was sunny and warm with a slight breeze.
The first team that marched in the parade was the Rock Hounds, who held the Tee Ball sign from Main St. to Memorial Park. Also accompanying the players and coaches were Town dignitaries. This included Village of Warwick Mayor Michael Newhard as well as members of the Volunteer Fire Department. The Warwick Fire Department Color Guard led the parade as they marched carrying the American and Fire Department flags.
Not only were Little Leaguers on the march, but girls softball teams were also well represented. The parade ended at the fields beyond Memorial Park, where everyone who had marched was grateful to get some shade.
As the teams lined up on the field, Warwick Valley High School Senior John Roca led the attendees in the National Anthem. Roca also starred in The Beauty and The Beast at the high school this Spring.
Come out and support the Little League, Tee Ball and Softball players this Spring!
