After months of public hearings, research, discussions with senior groups and residents, the Town Board voted to place the issue of a fee on carry out bags before the voters in this year’s November General Election. The Board felt strongly that while the overuse and proliferation of primarily disposable plastic bags is an issue that should be addressed it was important for all residents of Warwick to have a chance to decide on the proposed solution. In the true spirit of democracy you will now have your chance. In the months ahead you will learn both the pros and cons, and it is my hope that you will become well informed on the issue then exercise one of our most precious rights, the right to vote.
The Town of Warwick is very proud to be designated a “Clean Energy Community” by NYSERDA for the effort of the Town Government to promote and facilitate wise energy efficiency policies. This designation earned our Town a $5,000 grant!
Congratulations to Elizabeth Knight and the over 80 volunteers who made the second “Too Good to Toss” event a smashing success! An unbelievable amount of material was repurposed at this great community event. Well done!
Consumers beware; Orange and Rockland is warning its customers of the latest phone call scam by crooks with a scheme to have you send “bill payments” so they can help with your debt. For more information visit the Town of Warwick on Facebook.
The Town Board declares Sun., May 20 to Sat., May 26 as Emergency Medical Services Week in the Town of Warwick. We are blessed with three exceptional Volunteer Ambulance Corps who never fail to answer the call. We are also very lucky to have an outstanding Emergency Room at St. Anthony/Bon Secour Community Hospital. If you see a first responder next week (or anytime) please say thank you!
