Kudos to Town of Warwick/Village of Florida native, Jimmy Sturr and his Orchestra for their outstanding “America the Beautiful” benefit to support the Hudson Valley Honor Flight. Jimmy and his band were outstanding, as were Jay and the Americans which features Warwick’s own Marty K. The packed house loved every minute and the money raised will help fund the October flight that takes our WWII and Korean War Vets to a special tour of their monuments in Washington, DC at no cost to the veteran! If you know a veteran, please visit www.HVhonorflight.com and encourage them to sign up for a trip of a lifetime! Thank you again, Jimmy Sturr, well done.
The Town continues our work with Orange County and other municipalities to prepare a shared services plan that our Governor has mandated. While we have been sharing with other Towns and Villages for decades to keep costs down, we look forward to seeking new ones through this process. Once our work is completed in August there will be public hearings to share the plan with our residents.
It is that time again for senior citizens in our Town to get their tickets to our annual Senior BBQ to be held this year on Tues., Aug. 28. This event is FREE to any senior citizen residing in the Town of Warwick, thanks to the generous donations of so many community service organizations, our veterans’ groups, the Warwick Valley Rotary and the support of many volunteers. Our seniors will be served lunch prepared by Fetch Executive Chef, Paul Karas, and a complete chicken dinner, prepared by local chef, Mike Coleman, of Mike’s Custom BBQ. A fun-filled day kicks off at 11 a.m. at Union Corners Park. This event is free to any senior citizen in our Town, but you do need a ticket which can be obtained through one of our seven senior citizen organizations or by stopping by the Supervisor’s office in the Warwick Town Hall, Mon. through Fri., between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Mark your calendars, and don’t miss this opportunity to have your community say thanks for all you have done to make this a great place to live.
The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thurs., Aug. 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick.
