The End of an Era
By Janmarie Foschini
The Breezy Point Inn, located at 620 Jersey Ave. in Greenwood Lake, said their goodbyes to their loyal customers on Sun., Jul. 1. Partners Peter Pakola and Chef Alex Baron have been serving the Greenwood Lake community and beyond for over 33 years. Peter’s family, the Diebers, first opened the Breezy Point Inn in 1962, then in 1985 Peter and Alex began the next chapter.
Throughout the years the Breezy Point has provided many milestones in peoples lives from wedding rehearsal dinners, bridal and baby showers, holiday meals, to family dinners and parties, while overlooking the beautiful lake view or cozied up by the fireplace. Breezy Point has been the home of the yearly Winter Carnival and Oktoberfest, which have drawn hundreds of people to these festive events.
Peter said, “Thank you to all the wonderful people who came and shared our experience – we thank you for all the gratitude and support from our community and beyond.”
Chef Alex plans on writing the Breezy Point cookbook with all the delicious meals he has prepared over the years.
“With a heavy heart and a lot of emotion, our run here has come to and end. It’s been an amazing journey; thanks so much for your support,” stated Alex.
Adding a final quote from Alex, he said, “Zum Nachsten Mal,” which means “Until next time.”
Peter and Alex wish the new owners much success. Many thanks to Peter, Alex and the staff at Breezy Point for all the wonderful memories you have given our community over the years. We wish you the best!
