The Town of Warwick has instituted a Friendly Visitor Program under the auspices of Jewish Family Service of Orange County. The program is designed to support older adults and those who have disabilities who live alone and enjoy their independence but may feel isolated, separated from their families or are in need of a caring friend. The Town of Warwick Friendly Visitor Program is committed to supporting residents by helping them remain in their homes.
Local volunteers are matched with residents in need of support and can make a difference by providing transportation to local appointments, help with grocery shopping, home visit, chatting on the phone and clerical assistance. Volunteers donate two hours per week at a time that works for them. They are screened and trained and will be insured for personal liability while they are volunteering.
There is no charge for the services which are offered to older adults and adults with disabilities living in the Town and Village of Warwick, the Village of Florida, and the Village of Greenwood Lake.
The training will be held on Thurs., Mar. 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Warwick Town Hall, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick. For more information and to R.S.V.P., call 986-1124.
