Village of Warwick’s Commemorative Ornament
The Perfect Little Holiday Ornament is now for sale at the Shops in Warwick! In honor of the Village of Warwick’s 150th year, this commemorative ornament was conceived by the Warwick Sesquicentennial Committee as a way to help support the many celebrations planned for 2017.
The traditional gold ball bears the contest winning logo, a silhouette by local graphic designer and artist Nanette Hoey, who researched old illustrations of Warwick’s historic buildings to create an inclusive image representative of the Village.
Her other inspiration was taken from the priority that the village gives to its trees. Stylized and exaggerated, the trees evoke the strong sense of place of which Warwick is proud. The colors and fonts were chosen to give the ornament a vintage feel.
Although perfect for the holidays, the ornament will be available throughout the year starting on Sun., Nov. 20, during the “Home for the Holidays” even. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Village of Warwick. Cost for the ornament is $12.95. The ornament is the first of a number of items such as a blanket, which will include the logo. Also noteworthy is that the ornament was made in the USA.
The Warwick Village Sesquicentennial will kick off on New Year’s Eve. Warwick’s homegrown version of the holiday, Apple Eve, will feature fun and frivolity for the whole family at Railroad Green. Watch for more information to come.
