As part of the Village of Warwick’s Sesquicentennial celebration honoring the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the Village of Warwick, Kathie Austin, of Kathie Austin Photography, coordinated a photo session on Sat., Jul. 29 at Veterans Memorial Park in Warwick. A large group of residents showed up, including the young people who will be around for the opening of the next time capsule, to be opened in 2067.
Also in attendance were seniors who were at the first town photo taken 50 years ago. Austin used her exceptional skills up high in a fork lift to capture the essence of the diverse community.
The Sesquicentennial Committee has dubbed this photo shoot a “practice run” after realizing that more time is needed to put together something this important. The plan is to wait until the summer is over, kids are back in school, families are home from vacation, and more notice can be given to residents. The committee will publicize the new photography date on Facebook and in the local media. The final photos will be included in the time capsule to be opened in 2067.
Along with the additional photography session in the fall, the deadline for submissions for the new time capsule has been extended also until the Fall.
