Warwick Valley High School was the place to be on Fri., Feb. 3 for the 22nd annual Middle School Guitar Club Concert. More than 60 students participated in the concert and were accompanied by another 60 or more students from the Middle School Wire Choir.
The night turned back the clock with hits from the Beach Boys, Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Aerosmith, Tears for Fears, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Eurythmics and more. Students played, sang and some even danced their hearts out on stage. Teachers got in on the act too, with their own rendition of “Hold The Line” by Toto. A packed audience of every age group was on their feet more than once.
Seventeen amazing performances came to a close with “Hey Jude” by the Beatles, at which time the entire club filled every inch of the stage for the final chorus. They say many hands make light work and never has this been more evident.
Guitar Club advisors Edward Mesic and John Gouveia, retired WVMS teacher and club founder Daryl Wilbur, and Wire Club advisor/director Elissa Maynard worked with the students since the fall. In addition, Debra Leporati and Christy Brown were there to lend a hand.
