Participants in the 25th annual Carol McManus Memorial Run this year included families, individuals, friends and members of the Warwick Valley High School cross country team. The annual Labor Day race is sponsored by the Warwick Lions Club. Some participants say they run to achieve their personal best while others run for the thrill of competing and finishing. The event includes a 5K run and walk, a five mile (5M) race and kids’ races.
The first three male runners to finish the 5K Race were Brad Ackerman, a former member of the Warwick cross country track team with a time of 16:41; finishing with the second best time was Bryan Forino with a time of 17:01; and finishing in third place was Sean Quinn, who finished at 18:42.
Emily Hume, was the first female 5K racer to cross the finish line with a time of 17:48, followed by second and third place finishers, Olivia Elston with a time of 17:56 and Morgan Serkes in 20:17, respectively.
