The Town of Warwick Police Department arrested Victoria L. Rolnick, 24, of Middletown, NY on Wed., May 16. According to Police, Rolnick, who was employed as a private home health care worker, was fired by a Warwick resident on Sun., May 6, after they discovered that she had allegedly stolen a check and cashed it in the amount of $3,000. The resident contacted the Warwick Police and an investigation began.
Rolnick returned to the resident’s home on Rte. 17A in Warwick NY on Wed., May 16 and was observed by the homeowner looking in the windows. The homeowner immediately contacted the Warwick Police Department, who stopped the vehicle on Rte. 94 North in Warwick.
Upon further investigation, Police Officers discovered a large amount of assorted jewelry in Rolnick’s vehicle. The jewelry that was discovered had allegedly been stolen from a residence in the Town of Wallkill, where Rolnick was also employed as a home health care worker.
Warwick Police with the assistance of the New York State Police located the owner of the jewelry who identified it as belonging to him. Rolnick was charged with possession of stolen property and criminal trespass in the third degree. She was arraigned before Town Justice Peter Barlet and remanded to the Orange County Jail on $1,500 bail.
The investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected both in Warwick and in Wallkill.
