Sarah Werner, a fifth grade student at the Warwick Valley Middle School (WVMS), won the New York State Arbor Day poster contest and was presented with an award recently at the Tree City Luncheon in Albany.
The contest was sponsored by the Town of Warwick and the Warwick Tree Commission back last December. Patti O’Connor, a fifth grade teacher at the WVMS coordinated the contest for Warwick students. There were twelve students who submitted posters for consideration and their works will be displayed during the month of April at the Warwick Town Hall, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick. This year’s theme was “Defend New York’s Forests.”
