Albany Center Gallery presents a new exhibition titled, “Passage, a Journey through Prints,” curated by Alana Akacki, a graduate of Warwick Valley High School. Passage is a group printmaking exhibition that focuses on travel and memories. The work in this exhibition addresses elements of transportation, landscape and city scenes, documentation, and memories. Artists include Joan Dix Blair, Annie Bissett, Thorsten Dennerline, Nancy Haver, Sarah Pike, Nori Pepe, Mary Ellen Riell, and Sandy Wimer. The exhibition is currently on display at the Albany Center Gallery until Fri., Sept. 1.
Alana Akacki moved to Albany, NY in 2002 to pursue a career in the visual arts. She graduated from The College of Saint Rose with a Bachelor of Science degree in studio art, with a concentration in printmaking in 2007. She then received a second degree in gallery management from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. Akacki has worked for not-for-profit arts organizations since 2010 and currently works at the University Art Museum, University at Albany, SUNY as the office manager. She serves on the Exhibition Committee for Albany Center Gallery and this is the second exhibition she has curated for them.
