This past week’s unpredictable weather did not scare away teams from the Warwick Valley High School. Both the softball and baseball teams played on Mon., May 7.
The Lady Wildcats fell just three points shy of another Division 2 win against their adversary with a final score of 5-2 against Minisink. However, the baseball team showed Minisink who was on top with a final score of 11-1, Warwick. In this Division 2 win, Jack Vignola hit a homerun, a double and drove in four runs for another Wildcat victory.
The following day both of the lacrosse teams gave impressionable performances on the field. The girls won by a great margin against Cornwall, with Kayla Datys scoring six goals, including two assists, for a final score of 19-11, Warwick.
For the boys’ lacrosse team, another Division 2 win against Minisink was accomplished. Athletes Kenton Mears, Eric Ormsby and Chris Malota each scored twice with a final outcome of 8-6, Warwick.
During the baseball game that day against Minisink, Jack Leahy struck out 11 of Warwick’s opponents in just over six innings, leaving the final score at 4-1 for another Division 2 win.
Hannah Davis also managed a homerun in the last inning of a softball game against Marlboro, beating the competition out with an outcome of 6-5, Warwick.
The boys’ lacrosse team won another non-league game on Thurs., May 10. The final score was 15-6 against Kingston, with the high scorers being Eric Ormsby, Chris Malota and Jason Hranitz.
That same day, the girls’ lacrosse team took down their competitor, Roosevelt, with an outcome of 20-9. Taina Gamory and Kayla Datys both scored four points each for the Wildcats while teammates Natalie Daigle and Erin Flannery scored three each, for another Division 2 win.
