Graduation is right around the corner at Warwick Valley High School (WVHS) and the athletic season is at its end. While the Wildcats had a fantastic season as a whole, many seniors are moving on to join the teams at their selected schools next season. The boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams proved themselves time and time again against their rivals. The baseball and softballs teams, led by a great set of coaches and captains, also showed that Warwick is an athletic powerhouse not to be reckoned with.
Many of the talented athletes from WVHS have committed to teams and schools for next season, looking to expand their athletic horizons and do what they love while getting a great education. Emily Welling will be attending Suffolk University in Massachusetts next fall, while varsity basketball teammate Lauren Desrats will be joining Mt. Saint Mary next season. Also graduating is Catie Smith, who has committed to attend SUNY Cortland, widely known for their exceptional athletics programs.
Kaeli Thompson, of the WVHS track and field team, showed what she is made of once again, pole vaulting her way to second place in the womens pole vault event at the NYSPHSAA State Championships in Cicero on Fri., Jun. 8.
The boys’ 4×8 crew team placed seventh in Division 1. Warwick is also taking home a medal for boys’ pole vaulting, keeping the same trend for 20 years in a row.
