The Warwick Wildcats football team defeated Goshen 28-21 on Sat., Sept. 9 to retain the Spirit Trophy. The series now stands at 55 wins for Warwick, 46 wins for Goshen and four tied games.
The Wildcats need to score late in the game was achieved with the help of a Jared Senius pass to Sean English for a 24 yard completion. Warwick’s offensive line of Andre Ward, Rich Mascal, Dan Jeleniewicz, Nick Fotino, and Jason Hranitz kept the pocket clean all day for quarterback Jared Senius, who completed 15 of 25 passes for over 200 yards, including three touchdown passes to Connor Perez and an important two-point conversion to Anthony McGee.
Dan McNally and Noah Daigle blocked punts for the Wildcats. McNally recorded four sacks, while teammates Matt Hansen, Nick Fotino, Joe Miller, Noah Daigle, and Grant Dolshun sacked the Goshen quarterback. Warwick improves to 2-0 and will take on Saugerties on Sat., Sept. 16 with a 1:30 p.m. kick-off at the C. Ashley Morgan Field at the Warwick High School, located at 89 Sanfordville Rd. in Warwick.
