Warwick Football defeated Monroe-Woodbury, 14-13, in an opening night victory on Fri., Sept. 1 at Monroe-Woodbury. Connor Perez led the Wildcat offense with ten receptions for 158 yards and two touch down receptions from senior quarterback Jared Senius. Senior kicker Steven Mehling kicked the two extra points to pace the Wildcat scoring. Harrison Parelli and Kyle Rooney combined for nearly 100 yards of rushing.
The Wildcat defense was paced by seniors Nick Fotino, Jason Hranitz, Andrew Wierzbicki, Danny McNally, Noah Daigle, and Sean English. Danny McNally blocked a punt and the game deciding extra point to give the Wildcats a one point victory. Perez intercepted the final pass of the game on the 20 yard line to close it out.
Warwick will travel to Goshen on Sat., Sept. 9 in the Annual Spirit Trophy Game. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Goshen Middle School. The team will warm up at the Park Avenue field on Sat. at 11 a.m. and travel by bus to Goshen for the traditional Walk up the Hill. Parents and Wildcat fans are encouraged to participate. The bus will depart from Park Avenue at 11:45 a.m.
