Story by Luke Segota
Spring is right around the corner and Warwick is preparing for a great sports season. As sports such as wrestling and skiing are wrapping up their fantastic seasons with banquets and parties, the lacrosse and baseball teams are beginning to train for games to come.
Track and field moves from indoors to outdoors and swimming commences. With baseball, softball and other outdoor sports around the corner, Warwick transitions from a heavily snowed in winter to a hopeful sunny spring. This means tailgating and fans on the stands and at the sidelines at games.
Also getting back on the green are the Warwick varsity golf teams for girls’ and boys’ alike. The crew team gets back on the water and tennis players will take a swing at the title this season. Modified tryouts for softball and baseball will commence this week as well.
The girls’ lacrosse team, led by Coach Denis O’Connor, takes advantage of the indoor gym at the Warwick Valley High School in Warwick NY to get their practice in.
Section wrestling recently recognized athletes from Warwick at their banquet, attended by many coaches, family members and wrestlers.
