Mayor Newhard: Knock Wood!

Local News News & Updates

There is a superstition of bad luck to talk about the weather. I’m a little nervous to go into the details about Sunday’s and Monday’s unique mildness – sunny and sublime! Spring days in February and we’ve had a very mild Winter – enough said, let’s enjoy this gift and knock wood!

This week the administration of the Village ID program begins. Any Village resident 14 yrs. and older with proof of residency can apply for a photo ID. The cost of the ID is $10. Please go to the Village’s website for a detailed description, instructions, and residency card application. The hours for card administration through the Clerk’s Office are as follows: Mon., Wed., and Fri. from 2 to 4 p.m. Special evening hours from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wed., Feb. 26 Wed., Mar. 4; and Wed., Mar. 11.

Congratulations to the Scouts who recently passed over to Boy Scouts during the Arrow of Light Ceremony at last week’s Blue and Gold Dinner – wishing you a bright future in scouting.

March is a busy month at Village Hall, internally budgets for each department are being prepared, our DPW is using this mild weather to get ahead of Spring and Summer preparations and repairs and of course, we have Village Elections for two Trustee seats on Wed., Mar. 18. The Village Reorganization meeting is Mon., Apr. 6.

Enjoy the weather and come downtown! A great time to check out your favorite eatery or try someplace new. There is always plenty to explore and enjoy!

The next Village Board meeting will take place Mon., Mar. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Village Hall, located at 77 Main St. in Warwick.
