Featured Articles News & Updates

Hugs for Courage recently hosted their 1st Annual Frontline Warrior Golf Open at Hickory Hill Golf Course to honor, benefit and celebrate Warwick’s Veterans, Active Military and First Responders. The event, exclusive to Frontline Warriors, sponsored a total of 52 golfers. The course was lined with smiles and laughter as these brave men and women enjoyed a day to escape the stress that often accompanies both paid and volunteer positions in these chosen fields.

As news spread of the event, sponsorships began to pour in. Carmela Borrazas and Nicole McCormick, President and Vice President of Hugs for Courage, are also the founders of the Warwick Relief Market, a Facebook group designed to help support businesses throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Using this platform, they were able to sponsor the Frontline Warrior golfers making the event free for all in attendance.

Hugs for Courage received over $13,000 in donations. The event was sponsored by many local businesses including Dana Distributors, Grappa Ristorante, Sam’s Meat Warehouse, the Warwick Valley Rotary Club, The Irish Whisper, FM-Designs, Flirt Boutique, Warwick Valley Olive Oil Company,  Jennifer Rogers Medium, Miss Bliss Co-Op, Chef Greeley Cake Designs, Yesterday’s Irish Pub, Opa Greek Grill, Werners Ace Hardware, Larry’s Deli, Central Deli, Fairkirk Golf Course, Sugarloaf Tap House, Cheryl McKeviit consultant Swaroski Crystals, Meghan Gilson and Nicolle Lundell consultants with Thirty-One Bags and many local community members.

Hugs for Courage is a grassroots, community organization devised of a committee of volunteers from Warwick who want to help support the needs of Veterans and First Responders. They are currently fundraising to establish a home-center for VFW Post #4662.
