Mayor Harter: Let’s Come Together

News & Updates

Hello Florida,

Hard to believe we are into November already and Halloween has come and gone quite differently than years passed. On that note, I would like to thank the Florida Fire Department, Alison Orlando and all the volunteers who made the Quarantine-o-ween a huge success for the families for the community. In these crazy times, it is nice to see our community work together to achieve a common goal.

By the time this column is printed the elections will be over and we will hopefully know who has won. I decided to write this week’s column topic based on what I have been seeing and reading over the last few weeks. We cannot continue on this path of divisiveness for our communities. 2020 has been and still is a very trying year for all of us and I urge everyone to come together and move forward together after Nov. 3.

The pandemic is the latest example of bringing out the best in us as a community with volunteering and altruistic deeds within Florida and elsewhere.  After all we have went through this year it seems that within the last few weeks, we seem to be drifting away from each other as neighbors and community members based on political factions. No matter who wins we must focus on what we all have in common as opposed to what divides us. We are neighbors, friends and a community, we are Florida.
