Q & A with Deputy Investigator Daniel Volpe #088

Police and Fire

How long have you worked at the Sheriff’s Office? I began my career with the OCSO in 2006, working in the Corrections Division. In 2009, I attended and completed the Orange County Police Chief’s Association Police Academy and became a Deputy Sheriff.

Where did you begin your career in Law Enforcement? The Sheriff’s Office is where I started and where I intend to end my Law Enforcement career.

What made you want to become a Deputy Sheriff? I come from a long line of law enforcement in my family, and I’ve always been drawn to public service.

What is the most rewarding part of your job? During my career, I’ve had the opportunity to save multiple lives. Knowing my training and actions have given people another chance at life is by far the most rewarding part of my job.

What is the hardest part of your job? The hardest part is having to deal with children who’ve been the victims of crimes or traumatic incidents.

What is one character trait that helps you as a Deputy Sheriff? Why? During my time as a Correction Officer, I learned that listening and patience will get you further than anything else. I’ve translated those skills into my role as an Investigator, which has been invaluable during criminal investigations.

What is your favorite sport and team? I grew up as a fan of baseball and football, and have always followed the NY Mets. I also enjoy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and have competed multiple times over the years.
