Our state roads are in unacceptable shape and I’m continuing to push the DOT at every opportunity to do more. There was some good news this week: I joined Assemblyman Karl Brabenec and many of our local town and village leaders to laud the start of a much-anticipated $30 million project that will modernize State Routes 17A and 94 through the towns of Warwick and Goshen.
This project will feature:
● Significant improvements from the NY/NJ state line to the Village of Goshen, including 14 miles of sorely needed repaving
● Multiple traffic signals updated
● New crosswalks, sidewalks, and curbing installed
● A new roundabout installed at the intersection of Route 94, County Road 1A, and Reservoir Road
● Upgraded drainage in flood-prone areas
● Work continued through the rest of this year’s and next year’s construction seasons
The Hudson Valley’s state roads have been historically underfunded, resulting in unacceptable driving conditions, which is why I have pushed so hard to move this project along. My thanks goes out to DOT for their work on this and, while I’ll keep pushing them to address other roads in our county, including 17M and 9W and 207, this project is a big step in the right direction.
