Safe Spring Ahead

Police and Fire

Sheriff-Photo-2--e1708695452816 Safe Spring AheadSpring is beginning to arrive in Orange County, bringing longer daylight hours and warmer weather. With the start of spring, more residents, especially children, are spending time outdoors walking, running, playing, and biking. We want to ensure that all residents can enjoy the outdoors safely.

After school and on weekends are peak times for children to play outside. Drivers should be alert for kids chasing balls into the street or riding bicycles and scooters near roadways. We urge drivers to slow down, obey posted speed limits, and exercise extra caution near schools, parks, and playgrounds.

Cyclists, runners, and casual walkers will also be enjoying their time outdoors. Please slow down in residential neighborhoods and yield to pedestrians crossing the roads. As always, avoid distracted driving: put your phone down, do not text and drive, and keep your eyes on the road to stay attentive.

Law enforcement will be out conducting High-Visibility Engagement Campaigns focusing on distracted driving, speed zones, school bus violations, seat belt use, impaired driving, and other related infractions. Do your part on the road: buckle up, drive sober, stop for school buses, obey speed limits, and stay alert.
