As Sheriff of Orange County, I want to remind all residents that we have a role in keeping our communities safe. We rely on you, as community members, to be the “eyes and ears” of your neighborhoods and the places you frequent. Your continued observation and proactivity in maintaining a safe environment are very helpful. We strongly encourage residents to report any suspicious activity, no matter how minor it may seem.
Currently, the Sheriff’s Office is not aware of any credible threats to our area. However, I am in constant communication with my staff, who are assigned to work alongside our federal, state, and local partners, to stay informed and monitor any potential situations as they arise.
The Orange County Threat Advisory Committee, or “OCTAC,” and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s “If You See Something, Say Something®” programs are valuable resources for residents.
OCTAC uses a multidisciplinary approach to reports of concerning behaviors so an assessment can be performed before an act of targeted violence occurs, while “If You See Something, Say Something®” helps individuals stay updated on current threats, recognize signs of suspicious activity, and understand how to report it.
To report concerning or unusual behaviors to our OCTAC through our website, www.orangecountygov.com/OCTAC
If you observe anything suspicious, notify local law enforcement immediately.
And, as always, if there is an emergency, call 9-1-1
