What a surprise I have had this week!! As a British citizen living in Pennsylvania with ancestors from Warwick, England, poppies have come to my mind and I have been knitting.
I plan to be in Warwick, UK on Nov. 11 in honor of my dad’s service in France and my uncle’s ultimate sacrifice there in 1916. Now I have just realized that your little Village of Warwick, NY has made a connection with that British town.
What’s more amazing – during the years 1962-1963 I lived in Warwick and taught at Hamilton Avenue School in your Village! I’m so excited to be a double part of commemorating the horror that was the First World War. As soon as the weather settles I will be driving north to touch base again with my memories of Warwick, NY and leave a poppy or two.
