It is that time of year again when the voters in the Warwick Valley School District are given the opportunity to go to the polls and vote on the annual School Budget. Because of the 2 percent tax caps imposed by the State of New York, there is very little that the taxpayers can actually vote on in regards to the Budget. However, the most important thing that the voters can do is vote for the School Board Members who choose how that 2 percent will be applied to the budget.
School Board members volunteer their time to do a job that requires them to attend a monthly meeting as well as a work session each month. Most Board members also attend functions in the School District to show their support for the students as well. Board members also have a financial responsibility to the tax-payer. Bob Howe is an experienced Board member who takes the job seriously and makes decisions that have the best interest of the students, staff and tax-payers in mind. I met Bob Howe over 20 years ago while serving on the Budget Advisory Committee and I know him to be a dedicated, hard-working, knowledgeable man with integrity. I think that these characteristics are what the taxpayers would want in a Board member. I hope that you will join me in voting on Tues., May 16 and re-electing Bob Howe to the Warwick Valley Central School Board.
