Words and symbols are powerful.
The blue line on Railroad Ave. amplifies divisiveness.
In Ireland they had the Orange and the Green and it was ugly.
Here and now we seem to have the blue and the black just for starters.
I can’t power wash the symbols out by Spanktown Rd. out of my head.
Cooler heads in all communities and of all backgrounds are shaking those heads right now.
Nobody should have to deal with a public challenge, implied threat or poke in the eye.
The blue line is perceived differently by different people and communities.
Why are we offering division in one of our most peaceful public gathering places?
Can anyone paint the symbol of their choice on a public street or in a public place?
Perception matters too. Why was this necessary?
I have a family full of cops and members of the service.
Reach out rather than in. Peace starts at home.
That line does not represent me, my home, my community or my vision of Warwick.
