It recently came to my attention that someone is planning to build a beer garden/barbecue joint across the tracks from the carwash. Really???
Seems like a bad idea to me for a number of reasons. Who would want to hangout virtually in the backyards of dozens of angry neighbors, looking at the carwash, when there are so many other nicer choices, such as Pennings, the new Barbecue place, Baird’s Tavern, Fetch, Eddie’s Roadhouse, The Blarney Station, Halligans, the Wine Bar, Coquito, the Italian Villa, Fratellos, and Grappa just to name some of our too many alcohol based venues.
I don’t think the tourists will find it or choose it. I think the business would fail and it will go into default and we will have lost what may be our last best opportunity for what the village really needs – parking. Parking for the merchants, Applefest and growing needs. CVS may not always be so generous.
The money to accomplish this could be raised in a number of ways. Perhaps we create a bond as we did for PDR, or put a solar roof over it and pay the Village eclectic bill. There must be a grant for this. Let’s figure this out. I believe it comes up for approval this week. Please call our politicians right away. What is better for our community parking or a Beer Garden.
