Fifty years ago, on Dec. 21, Elizabeth (Betty) Zupko, of Tuxedo Park, NY and Douglas Hurd, from Canastota, NY were married in Suffern, NY on the Winter Solstice. They met as teachers in the Suffern School District in the 1960s and settled in the Town of Warwick a few years later.
Over the past 50 years, not only has this couple made a tremendous impact on these communities as educators at Suffern Junior High and Warwick High School and volunteers at the Warwick Historical Society and Christ Church, just to name a few, they have proved that truth and love are everlasting to family and friends.
As they celebrate their Golden Anniversary at CareOne in Creeskill, NJ, a quote from Helen Keller reminds everyone: “The best and most beautiful things in this world cannot be seen or even heard, but must be felt with the heart.”
Their family, Brian, Karen, Logan, Justin, and Addison, wish them a Happy 50th Anniversary and thank them for leading the way.
