For the week ending Sun., Sept. 15, the Warwick Fire Department (WFD) has responded to 313 calls for service to date.
On Mon., Sept. 9 the WFD officers and members completed weekly truck checks of all apparatus, followed by company drills. On Tues., Sept. 10 the WFD held its monthly work session and the Department Parade Committee held its monthly meeting for the upcoming O.C. Volunteer Firemen’s Parade and WFD 150th Anniversary celebration on Sept. 28.
On Wed., Sept. 11 the WFD attended 9/11 remembrance services at the Warwick 9/11 Monument. Thank you to the community, the WFD, the Police Department and the Warwick Ambulance Corps and to Speaker Past Chief and Fire District Commissioner Jason Brasier.
On Thurs., Sept. 12 the WFD held its monthly Department Extrication Drill at Spechts Garage. Thanks to Spechts for their continued support. On Fri., Sept. 12 the WFD attended homecoming festivities.
Congratulations to firefighter Dan Geoghan and his wife, Alex, who were married on Fri., Sept. 13. The WFD wishes them a life time of love and happiness.
On behalf of the WFD condolences, thoughts, and prayers go to the family of 72 year member Rocco “Rocky” Garcia. The WFD will attend Firematic Services. Rocky will be missed by all in the community.
On Sat., Sept. 14 the Excelsior Hose Co. #1 hosted their 150th Anniversary Dinner at Anthony’s Pier 9. Congratulations to the members on 150 years of service. On Sun., Sept. 15 the Excelsior Hose Co. attended Jeep Jam at the Warwick Drive Inn for a fundraiser. Thank you to Beth and Ernie and the staff of the Drive In for your continued support to the WFD.
