Warwick Lions, a Boys Under-13 Travel Soccer Team, are the East Hudson Youth Soccer League BU13 champions for the 2018-19 season.
“We are proud of our team members,” stated coach Ricardo Tovar, who led the winning team to a 5-4-1 season. “Our assistant coaches, Roberto Chinchilla, Carmelo Rivera, and I were pleased to see the progress each player was making throughout our practices, tournaments, and matches.”
The Travel Program of the Warwick Soccer Club is based on the philosophy that “the mastery of the fundamentals of soccer and the continued emphasis on good sportsmanship can still be maintained while playing at a more competitive level.” The players, and their families, make a commitment to play nearly year round including practices 2-3 times per week. As they advance in skill and maturity, teams may attend large, multi-day tournaments throughout New York State as well as out-of-state venues.
The East Hudson Youth Soccer League was established in 1976 with four member clubs and less than 300 players. Today, it is the second largest league in New York State with forty-four participating clubs and over 15,000 players.
