Colleen Larsen and Amanda Tarallo were declared candidates for two vacant seats on the Albert Wisner Public Library Board of Trustees at the Tues., Feb. 19 meeting of the Board. They will be running for five-year terms at the annual Library vote to be held on Tues., Apr. 2.
Amanda is a practicing attorney with Legal Services of the Hudson Valley and has lived in Warwick for the past three years. She believes the Library should be a community center. She “remembers my own mother taking me to the Library and loving the time we spent there. Libraries are places of study and so much more; they are great for social activities and community programs.”
Colleen Larsen is no stranger to the Library or to the Board. She has been an active member of the Friends of the Library, serving as president for the past 10 years. She is a registered nurse with the Orange County Department of Health and works as a consulting epidemiologist.
Working with the Friends, Colleen was instrumental in the growth of the Library from a small building on Colonial Ave. to its present location on McFarland Dr. She feels that the Library does an excellent job serving as the cornerstone of the community.
Her goal for the future is that “the Library should continue to provide this outstanding level of Library services and have the ability to adapt to changing community demographics and needs.”
The annual Library vote is scheduled for Tues., Apr. 2 at the Library. The polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. In addition to the two Trustee positions, the proposed annual operating levy for the fiscal year 2019-20 will be on the ballot.
Details on the vote and absentee ballot applications can be found at the Library or at www.albertwisnerlibrary.org.
