The Vision document for the Town of Warwick, known as “TOGETHER: Building Tomorrow Today,” will be officially handed off by Community 2000 to the Warwick Town Supervisor and the three Village Mayors at a formal gathering to be held on Tues., May 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Warwick Town Hall, located at 132 Kings Hwy. in Warwick NY.
The visioning process was launched by Community 2000 almost a year ago, also with a Town Hall ceremony, and wound up involving more than 2,000 Warwick residents who contributed ideas and energy. Now those ideas have been distilled down to a 56-page document that contains not only the most widely-proposed ideas for Warwick’s future, but also lays out basic implementation strategies for each one.
While the full “TOGETHER: Building Tomorrow Today” document won’t be available until after the public meeting on May 22, certain themes are known. One is to create a greater sense of cohesiveness among the three Villages and the Town. Another is to focus on “connectivity” to attract new businesses and jobs to the area.
Also included in the broad themes were increased recreational opportunities, improvements in regional transportation and commuting, a focus on sidewalks, and the vitality of the Villages, among others. After May 22, the vision will be posted online at www.Community2gether.org and print copies will be available at the Town Hall, as well as at the Village Halls and libraries in each Village.
