Warwick Valley High School (WVHS) hosted Warwick’s 9th Annual Empty Bowls event on Fri., May 3. At this family event, community members joined students for an ice cream social and family fun to raise awareness for and fight against hunger in the Warwick area.
Handmade bowls, donated by talented WVHS Empty Bowls Club members and local potters, were available for purchase. Proceeds from the event will be donated to several Town of Warwick food pantries and organizations that provide free food and meals such as the Back Pack Snack Attack program, Community Kitchen free monthly dinners in Pine Island, and food pantries in Warwick, Florida, Greenwood Lake and Pine Island.
Altice USA’s Charity Champions program promotes volunteerism and helps high school students raise money for a charity of their choice. Selected schools receive “seed money” to put towards fundraising efforts in addition to a $1,000 donation to their selected charity. Warwick H.S. was selected to participate and chose the Empty Bowls program as their charity.
