The Glenwood Baptist Church, located at 1863 County Rte. 565 in Glenwood, NJ will celebrated their 180th anniversary celebration on Sun., Sept. 23 at 4:30 p.m. Members, families and friends are invited to attend.
The church congregation dates back to 1792 but the congregation selected 1838 as their founding year as official church records exist only back to that year. The original church served the congregation for more than a century. On Christmas morning, 1982, the church burned to the ground. The cause of the fire was later identified to have been a faulty furnace.
Members, families and friends joined together to rebuild the church. The new church emerged from the ashes and on June 24, 1984 the church celebrated its first service. The congregation continues to grow and serve the people within the community and beyond.
