Warwick’s “Home for the Holidays” is a fun-for-all event that brings all the sights and smells of the season to downtown Warwick and places an emphasis on shopping and eating locally. Sponsored by the Warwick Valley Merchants Guild, Home for the Holidays is the traditional start of the holiday season for the merchants and eateries in Warwick and is designed to showcase the Village as the perfect place to do all of your holiday shopping.
The Warwick Valley Gardeners’ helped bring the holiday spirit to life by decorating the planter and the Railroad Green with holiday cheer using colorful ribbons, lights, and swags that compliment the scenic area.
Newhards – The Home Source, located at 33 Main St., offered some of the best natural seasonal tea samples, courtesy of Republic of Tea, and delicious holiday jams, cornbread and cookies by Stonewall Kitchen Jams. Children also enjoyed having pictures taken with Harriet the Bear. Be sure to check out a few new products made by several talented local artists.
This year the holiday theme at Newhards is wildlife and they’re offering everything from candles and books to custom made ornaments. Don’t forget to enter their raffle for a chance to win Harry the Bear. No purchase is necessary and the winner will be announced on Small Business Saturday, which will be held on Sat., Nov. 24. “Harry” the Blackey Hugster by Unipak Designs originally retails at $100.
Frazzleberries, located at 24 Main St., is beautifully decorated with holiday cheer. Just one step inside and you will see firsthand why it’s such a popular favorite. They offered a free gift for those customers spending $25 or more while supplies lasted. In addition they offered a $10 discount on your Buyers’ Choice purchase of $60 or more, which included their amazing heirloom quality advent calendars.
Ongoing events will be celebrated throughout the holiday season, including free horse and buggy rides on weekends on Railroad Ave. (weather permitting) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Sun., Dec. 16. Santa Claus will visit the Railroad Green on Sat., Dec 8 from noon to 2 p.m.
