The Regional Economic Community Action Program (RECAP) will honor Orange County’s Community Development Office with its Community Partnership Award at its annual dinner on Thurs., Apr. 26 at the Palacio Catering and Conference Center, located at 1700 17M in Goshen NY.
RECAP Board member Horace Belton will receive the Agency Leadership Award in recognition for his decades of philanthropic work throughout the community. Belton, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, was Executive Director of the Manhattan Psychiatric Center, and served as one of the founding members of Leadership Orange.
The County’s Community Development Office is being recognized for its contribution to RECAP’s anti-poverty efforts in the Hudson Valley. The Community Development Office coordinates funds to make infrastructure improvement, rehabilitate housing, and facilitate new construction particularly for low and moderate-income people in Orange County.
Under the leadership of Director Rich Mayfield, the department also administers the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME, Lead Hazard Control and several other federally funded programs.
