The Warwick Children’s Book Festival, a free event open to the public, will be held on Sat., Oct. 6 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Railroad Ave. in Warwick NY. In the event of rain, the Festival will be held at the Warwick Valley Middle School, located at 225 West St. in Warwick.
Over 70 authors and illustrators of books for children will be on hand to meet visitors. There will be crafts for children, an opportunity for children to read to therapy dogs, and the Uncle Brothers children’s concert at 12 noon.
The Warwick Children’s Book Festival is an annual event presented by the Albert Wisner Public Library. It is sponsored by Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes, generous and longtime benefactors of the Library, with additional support from the Village of Warwick. Tom Roberts, the proprietor of Ye Olde Warwick Book Shoppe, located at 31 Main St., is the bookseller for the event.

Author/Illustrators Traci Sorell & Frane Lessac
Traci Sorell and Frane Lessac comprise one of three author/illustrator pairs to attend the Warwick Children’s Book Festival this year. Their picture book, “We Are Grateful: Otsaliheliga,” follows a modern Cherokee family and their tribal nation as they express thanks for celebrations big and small throughout the year. The book features an appendix with a glossary and Cherokee syllabary (written symbols).
Traci is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and hails from Oklahoma. Not to be outdone, Frane joins us from Australia, where she collaborates with her husband, children’s book author and historian Mark Greenwood, who will also attend the Festival.
