The Village of Florida Board of Trustees passed a number of resolutions at their monthly meeting on Mon., Sept. 9, to begin the first steps of making improvements to the Water Treatment Plant.
According to a report from GHD Consulting Services Inc. and Fusco Engineering, the improvements come with an estimated cost of nearly $5.3 million.
The resolutions that were passed on Monday night included a negative State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) declaration for the project, the ability for Fusco Engineering to start applying for grants to fund the project as well as permissions to the Mayor to begin taking out bonds that will cover remaining costs.
The Village is currently working with JCO Inc. to begin making improvements and taking the right steps in order to prevent the project and its high price tag, according to Village of Florida Mayor Daniel Harter. Jr.
Village Trustees Thank Retiring Police Officer

The next meeting will be held on Wed., Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Village Hall, located at 33 S. Main St. in the Village of Florida.
