Village of Greenwood Lake Mayor Jesse Dwyer announced that the Village had opened sealed bids to determine the contractor for the Mountain Lakes Sidewalk Project. The sidewalk will extend from the new G.L. Firehouse, located at 17 Mountain Lakes Ln., to Black Bear Wine and Spirit, located at 1172 Rte. 17A.
The Village has been granted additional funds that will allow them to continue a sidewalk along Rte. 17A and connect to the Cablevision, located at 159 Windermere Ave. In addition, Dwyer reported that there will be a crosswalk installed across Rte. 17A by the Garden Center.
“If the weather permits, we will try to get the project done before winter. If we run into bad weather, we may do the entire project in the spring. Stay tuned for the ever-increasing pedestrian friendly projects happening in the Village,” said Dwyer.

New Teen Center Officially Open
The new Village Teen Center, located in the former firehouse at 51 Waterstone Rd., is officially open for the year. The Board says there are far too many organizations and people to thank for the opening, but it could not have happened without the following: The Greenwood Lake Village Board and their commitment to ensuring children have a safe and healthy environment to grow up in; the community; the G.L. Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol, sponsors of the Center; the Greenwood Lake Elks Lodge; the grounds team led by Ed Bilello; the following young ladies from Girl Scout Troop 427 for making the project their Silver Award – Samantha Toscano, Riley Persico, Emma Sorace, and Daniella Persad; the countless volunteers and people who donated items to the center; and, of course, the dedication of Teen Center Coordinator Chris VanVooren.
“Thank you so much to everyone involved; your dedication and hard work is an investment into this community that will have a profound impact for generations to come,” said Dwyer.
The Teen Center is open every Wed. for ages under 13 from 4 to 6 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. for ages 13 to 18. The Village is in the process of installing a basketball hoop with material and labor being donated by local contractor Tony Romanish, of Walls & Patios. Anyone wishing to volunteer their time for the Center can send an email to Mayor Dwyer at email@example.com.
