Superintendent of Schools Dr. Steven Cohen opened the Greenwood Lake Board of Education business meeting on Tues., Oct. 23 in the G.L. Elementary school gymnasium.
It was reported at the meeting that Middle School students in grades five and six attended a three-day, two-night trip to the Ashokan Center in Olivebridge, NY. Students participated in hands on learning programs such as nature, history and arts.
Both the Elementary and the Middle School participated in Red Ribbon Week, with students focused on making healthy choices. A different theme was highlighted each day, focusing on healthy choices.
Patricia Wark, the PTSA Vice President, who was unable to attend the meeting, sent word that Bingo Night will be held on Fri., Nov. 2 at the G.L. Middle School beginning at 6 p.m.
The next PTSA Meeting will be held on Thurs., Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Elementary School.
Village Liaison Report
Village Trustee Katheleen Holder, who was unable to be in attendance, sent in a report highlighting upcoming events planned in the Village.
The Village Tree Lighting will be held on Sat., Dec. 1. Anyone interested being a vendor can contact Colleen Dwyer at 234-0161 or send an email to email@example.com.
There will be a showing of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Dr. Seuss on Fri., Dec. 7 at the Teen Center, located at 51 Waterstone Rd.
The next School Board meeting will be held on Wed., Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. in the G.L. Middle School library, located at 1247 Lakes Rd. in Monroe, NY.
