The Warwick H.S. varsity girls’ tennis team attended the championship finals at the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament on Fri., Oct. 14. Three Warwick doubles teams moved on to qualify for the Section 9 Tournament.
The entire team and Coach Susan Filingeri came off of a very strong season taking home the Division II Varsity Tennis Title for Orange County for a second year in a row. Co-Captains, Senior Jacqueline Grundfast and junior Ava Ghobadian defended their title and won the OCIAA Girls Doubles Championship for a second year.
The other doubles teams that will move on to Sections next week are semi-finalists senior Uliana Kitar and partner, junior Stephanie Menoutis. Freshman Gabby Donohue and partner Samantha Killin, in the eighth grade, are quarter finalists will are also moving on to Sections next week.
The Warwick team had an excellent season and everyone wishes them luck as they move on to the state level competitions.
