The Greenwood Lake Community came together on Thurs., Dec. 6 for the seventh annual “Greenwood Lake Gives Back” event, sponsored by the Friends of Jesse Dwyer. The event took place at the G.L. Elks Lodge No. 2067 in Greenwood Lake and was free to everyone. Non-perishable food items and donations were generously given.
The event, organized by G.L. Mayor Jesse Dwyer and Bill Cerone, drew a large crowd of over 100 community members who came together to help and give back. Guests were treated to delicious foods, prepared and donated by the Helm and the Elks Lodge while listening to live music. Several gift baskets and prizes were raffled off. All baskets and prizes were generously donated by various businesses throughout the Village. All proceeds from the raffle and the event went directly to the G.L. food pantry.
“The seventh annual Greenwood Lake Gives Back fundraiser, sponsored by the Friends of Jesse Dwyer, was another amazing success. This year we were able to raise almost $2,000 and deliver three truckloads of food to restock the Greenwood Lake Food Pantry. Special thanks to everyone who donated, to those who came to enjoy the evening, and to the 25 local businesses that donated an item for our annual raffle. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!,” said event coordinator Bill Cerone.
Members of G.L. Girl Scout Troop 257 presented Mayor Dwyer with a check as a donation to the food pantry with money the girls earned from their fundraising. The girls were excited and proud to help the community and give back.
“Another great community event supporting a worthy cause. Thank you to event coordinator Bill Cerone, the G.L. Elks for donating the room and food, the Helm for also donating food for the event, Debbie Fisher Palmarini for donating the wonderful music, the Lynn family for being a top sponsor, the many local businesses who donated items for the raffle and of course, thank you to everyone who came out to support the event,” said Mayor Jesse Dwyer.
