The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival begins its eighth season next month, starting on Thurs., Aug. 17 through Sun., Aug. 20. Featured performers include Lenny White (a Miles Davis alumni) and Alex Foster from the Saturday Nite Live band. Both will be part of the headline show with the Jeff Ciampa/Pete Levin Group on Sat., Aug. 19 at 8 p.m. at the Warwick Valley Community Center, located at 11 Hamilton Av. In Warwick.
The Hudson Valley Jazz Ensemble will perform on Thurs., Aug. 17 from 7 to 10 p.m. as part of the Courtyard Music Series at 22 Railroad Ave. in Warwick. The ensemble will feature John Arbo, Bob Rosen, Lydia Pidlusky, Mark Minchillo, Gabe Valle, and Steve Rubin.
It Had to Be You, a gypsy jazz band, will perform on Fri., Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. at Milkweed in Romer’s Alley in Sugar Loaf. There is a suggested donation for the concert.
On Sat., Aug. 19 at 2 p.m., InnerRoute, with Rick Savage, Michael D’Agostino, Joe Tranchina, and JP Heston will play at the Tuscan Café, located at 5 South St. in Warwick. At 4 p.m. the Brian Kasten Group will play at Exposures Gallery, located at 1357 Kings Hwy. in Sugar Loaf. That evening, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., the Gabriele Tranchina Group will perform at the Thomas P. Morahan Park, located on Windermere Ave. in Greenwood Lake. Also that evening, the Jeff Ciampa/Pete Levin Group with Lenny White, Alex Foster and Ira Coleman will be in concert at 8:15 p.m. at the Warwick Valley Community Center in Warwick. Food from Healthy Thymes Market will be available, made possible by the Warwick Valley Community Center, Healthy Thymes Market in Vernon, NJ, the Hudson Valley Jazz Festival, Seely and Durland Insurance, Vastu and Heliosoul.org.
The Dave Smith Group will be at the Iron Forge Inn, located at 38 Iron Forge Rd. in Warwick, on Sun., Aug. 20 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Starting at 4 p.m. at Warwick Grove, Russ Kassoff will present a tribute to Sinatra.
Concerts will take place at venues in Sugar Loaf, Peekskill, Warwick, Greenwood Lake, Chester, Newburgh, Goshen, and Nyack, offering everything from Django-styled acoustic gypsy jazz, to improvisation to be-bop, latin-styled, featured vocalists and cool jazz.
