The Jubilate Choirs, founded in 2006 under the auspices of Christ Episcopal Church, located at 50 South St. in Warwick, is a co-ed choir organization for youth in grades four through 12. Dr. David Crone is the musical director and Steven Wing is the assistant musical director and accompanist.
The group, which consists of four choirs – the Jubilate Treble Choir for grades four through 12, the Jubilate Concert Treble Choir for grades five through 12, the Jubilate Liturgical Choir and the Jubilate Men’s Chorus for grades seven through 12, has been selected by the Episcopal Diocese of New York, seated at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine (the largest cathedral in the world), to perform at the Episcopal Charities Tribute Dinner which will be held on Mon., Dec. 3.
The annual black-tie gala attended by more than 800 guests is a fundraiser for Episcopal Charities to help support around 100 outreach programs throughout the Episcopal Diocese of New York, which covers Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island; Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, Ulster and Sullivan counties. The tribute dinner last year raised $1.5 million.
Christ Church in Warwick has been a beneficiary of Episcopal Charities in the past, receiving grant funding in support of its free weekly Saturday morning community breakfast. Jubilate itself has also been an Episcopal Charities grant recipient, most recently this year. Episcopal Charities awarded Jubilate a $3,000 grant this year to help underwrite the costs of tuition scholarships, bus rentals to attend performances outside of Warwick, and seed money for fundraising training for the Steering Committee.
