We are incredibly lucky to have so many wonderful organizations in and around the Village of Greenwood Lake. Among them, the G.L. Lions Club has been offering a college scholarship to local students for many years. This year’s scholarship, which totals $1,000, will be awarded to a student who currently attends Chester Academy, Warwick Valley High School or John S. Burke High School. Scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated a commitment to community service, which is the guiding principle of the Lions organization.
Scholarship applications are available in each school’s guidance office. Greenwood Lake School District residents not attending any of the above listed schools can apply by sending an email to Bob Kiedaisch at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline to submit your application is May 10, 2019.
Community Center Grand Opening
The Greenwood Lake Community Center will hold its official grand opening/ribbon cutting on Sat., May 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. and the Center will be open all day for visitors to come see what it is all about.
In addition, the G.L. Community Center, located at 51 Waterstone Rd., will be the meeting location for our Community Clean Sweep. We will provide bags, gloves and locations – we just need volunteers to go out and “clean the town.” We will have a BBQ at noon for anyone who would like to join us.
