The Fourth of July is upon us and I hope everyone has a safe and fun day celebrating our independence as a nation! This time of year many go on summer vacations to spend time with friends and family or to see our beautiful country. People may also choose to have staycations over the summer, and if you’re staying home there are some great local activities that we have access to.
Glenmere Lake hosts some great canoeing and kayaking to exercise the body and be out in nature to relax the mind. Fishing and hiking from Glenmere Park are other great activities if you want to spend a day outside. If you find yourself staying home to catch up or start a project around the house, we have two great local hardware stores to gather all the materials you need and helpful staff who are knowledgeable if you have any questions.
Almost everyone likes to go out for a meal now and then. If you feel like stepping out on the town for breakfast, lunch or dinner, we have a great variety of restaurants in Florida to satisfy all tastes. Our local brewery is a great place to gather with friends and if you have the desire for a cool treat, we have some great ice cream stores to satiate your sweet tooth. These are just a few things that our local area and businesses have to offer.
Let’s not forget that our Florida Family Fun Fest is also going to be here very soon! The fun fest committee has a meeting on Wed., Jul. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Village of Florida Senior Center, located at 3 Cohen Cir. Please attend if you would like to help or volunteer.
