The Board of Trustees of the Albert Wisner Public Library has appointed two community members to fill the vacancies on the Board. Donna Applegate and Jerry Benedetto retired from their Board positions after many years of service. Their valuable and lasting contributions to the Library will benefit the community for years to come. The Board commends and thanks them for their dedicated service to the Library and the community.
The newly appointed Board members are Amanda Tarallo and Colleen Larsen.
Amanda is a practicing attorney who has resided in Warwick for the past three years. She is currently employed by Legal Services of the Hudson Valley in the Domestic Violence Unit.
In discussing the role of a public Library, Amanda stated, “I believe the Library should be a community center. I remember my own mother taking me to the Library when I was a young child and loving the time we spent there. It should be a place where people gather for study and resources, but a Library can be so much more than that. It’s a great place for social activities and community programs.”
Colleen Larsen is no stranger to the Library or the Board. She has been an active member of the Friends of the Library, serving as president for the past 10 years. She has lived in Warwick for 26 years. She is a registered nurse and currently works with the Orange County Department of Health as a Consulting Epidemiologist.
With the Friends of the Library, Colleen was instrumental in the growth of the Library from a small building on Main St. to its present location at 1 McFarland Dr. She feels that currently the Library does an excellent job serving as the cornerstone of our community. “It is clear why the Library was selected as the Best Small Library in America!”
Colleen’s goal for the future is that “the Library should continue to provide this outstanding level of Library services and have the ability to adapt to changing community demographics and needs.”
